Over the years many doctors have provided medical care for the population of Liverpool. The last single practice physician to be located in the village was Dr. Edwin Yarwood. Dr. Yarwood opened his office on the corner of Third and Sycamore Streets in September 1962. The office, located on the first floor of his historic home, was operated at that location until Dr. Yarwood retired July 1, 2000. In 1961 Dr. Yarwood was searching on the west side of Syracuse for just the right house to turn into a home/office, but when he saw the large white Queen Anne house on the corner of Third street he decided to establish his practice in Liverpool. By the time Dr. Yarwood completed his residency at St. Joseph's Hospital, the house had been remodeled and the first floor office space was ready for patients.
