The Weekly Newspapers
Join Linda Loomis as she interviews C. Alan Baker, Charles McManus, and Richard Manville. These three gentlemen discuss the history of the Brown Newspaper chain, publishers of the Review, Liverpool's
community newspaper. In the course of their reminiscing we experience the charm and excitement of working for a weekly newspaper. We learn how newspaper publication methods and equipment have changed over the last 40 years. We are taken through the transition from hot lead, heavy galley, linotype machines to today's computer generated photocompositions. While the type of news being covered by these community newspapers may have changed and expanded over the years they still provide accurate records of small town life and early editions are excellent sources of local history.
Linda Loomis is the co-editor of the Review and teaches English at Onondaga Community College.
