Join Linda Loomis as she interviews Dr. Luke LaPorta, one of Liverpool's best known citizens. Luke is a man who has done much for athletics on both a local and national level. Luke came to Syracuse in 1945 to attend Syracuse University. after graduation he was hired by A.V. Zogg as a physical education teacher and went on to become the Liverpool Central School District's first athletic director. In 1972 he was the National Athletic Director of the Year. Dr. LaPorta was the first regional director of the Empire State Games. He has been elected to the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame as well as the Liverpool High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He now works as the Director of Development for Syracuse University and is their Major Gifts person.
Linda Loomis is the co-editor of the Review, Liverpool's community newspaper, and teaches English at Onondaga Community College.
